In response to the RedC poll of parents expressing a preference for primary school types, the Irish Vocational Education Association (IVEA), representing member VECs, welcomed the survey result that a very significant 67% of parents with dependent children wanted faith formation and religious instruction for their children to be provided during the school day. On behalf of the Irish Vocational Education Association (IVEA), I welcome the Advisory Group's firm recommendation that the Community National School (CNS) pilot scheme, operated by the Vocational Education Committees (VECs), be maintained and expanded. This model provides the state with a multi- denominational primary school which recognises all faiths and beliefs while seeking to accommodate the main faith groups through faith formation classes during the school day.

The Irish Vocational Education Association (IVEA) today welcomed the announcement of the appointment of Seán Ó Foghlù as incoming Secretary General of the Department of Education and Skills.

IVEA General Secretary Michael Moriarty stated that he had worked with Mr Ó Foghlú during his time with the Department Building and Planning Unit, and looked forward to continuing that association over the coming years.
